CARNIVAL LIBERTY
EXPERIENCE
The
Carnival Liberty cruise experience is exceptional in just about
every possible way. Service is outstanding, personal and efficient.
The staterooms are charming, low-key and spacious. Carnival excels
in entertainment, with lavish production shows, glitzy costumes,
and costly lighting effects. Headline acts featuring comedians,
magicians, ventriloquists, jugglers or song stylists will vary with
their schedules. There are generally two late-night Adult Comedy
shows as well, beginning at midnight. You will find Vegas floor
shows, jazz, and a fabulous "piano man" who packs in crowds with
his group sing-alongs. Cuisine exceeds your expectations,
particularly at Harry's Supper Club -- not to mention Emile's
buffet, the fish-and-chips bar, the sushi station and even the
pizzeria, with fabulous thin-crust pies.
Aside
from the daily show room entertainment, watch your daily schedule
onboard for all variety of entertainment -- including the poolside
games, trivia contests, passenger participation games, Karaoke,
bingo, art auctions, sports challenges, etc. You can even get a
temporary henna tattoo by the pool. Carnival does a great job of making it
fun for everyone at the deck parties, held a couple of times per
cruise, which always include a band, the cruise staff, dancing, and
of course food.
Onboard musical options can satisfy all tastes, from
the concerts on the Big Outdoor Screen to the Piano Man Piano Bar,
Karaoke, Disco with DJs, and Live Dance Music in Victoria's Lounge;
there's also easy listening or classical music on the ground floor
of the nine-deck-high atrium, in the Grand Villa Garden.
The
artisan-themed public spaces designed by Carnival's talented
architect Joe Farcus are sophisticated: the colorful glass lamps
along the walls of the art nouveau Emile's; the elegance of the
Antiquarian Library; the Cabinet Room, a jazz and cigars bar with
low key elegance; and the lovely Flowers bar, which seems a breath
of fresh air with its garden pastel watercolors tucked behind iron
gate fixtures. Carnival is raising the bar to meet new demand via
supper clubs, pizzeria, coffee bars, and sushi stations.
Our
ships are built with one goal in mind: to make sure, every time you
walk up the gangway, you get the sense you're crossing over into a
whole new world of fun. Once on board, let the good times roll
because nearly everything is included. Enjoy delicious meals in
varied onboard restaurants, including the complimentary 24-hour
stateroom service. Revel in awesome nightly entertainment; then
wonder at all the fun you'll have the next day. But that's not
all... there's the beautiful, exciting destinations; the
award-winning youth programs; topped off with the friendliest
service at sea. So hop on board, cause we're headed out to
Funville.
CARNIVAL LIBERTY DRESS
CODE
There
are 4 formal nights on a 7-night trip and most people really dress
up (about 30 percent of men wear tuxedos). The rest of the time the
dress code is country club casual. During day, dress is very
casual, including, shorts, sundresses, tank tops, etc. for the
ladies, and shorts, polo shirts, T-shirts, for the men.
Rubber-soled, low heeled or flat shoes are recommended while
onboard. The use of any footwear with wheels, including Heelys
shoes, is prohibited onboard all Carnival ships. For dining in the
evening, you may want to dress up a bit and/or bring along a light
sports jacket or cardigan.
For
those who want casual attire for dinner time on the "Cruise
Elegant" (formal night) evenings, the Emile's Restaurant is open
nightly, and has a more relaxed theme. Shirts and shoes/footwear
(flip-flops) must be worn at all times inside that
restaurant.
GRATUITIES / TIPPING
Tips
on Carnival Liberty are automatically charged to your shipboard
account (Sail & Sign Account) on the Carnival Liberty unless
alternative arrangements with the Guest Services desk are
made.
Carnival recommends $11.50 per person, per day. The
guidelines allocate $5.80 to dining room services, $3.70 to cabin
services and $2 per day for alternative services, which include
kitchen, entertainment, guest services and other hotel staff
members. The amount is automatically added to your shipboard
account, but can be adjusted in either direction at the guest
services desk. A 15 percent gratuity is automatically added to bar
bills. Tipping for room service at delivery is expected (and
appreciated) by the service staff.
For
beverage purchases -- liquor, soda, and soda cards, 15 percent of
the bill is automatically added to your Sail & Sign charge
account. Room Service staff may be tipped at your discretion.
Tipping your dining room Matre d' is at your discretion. You should
tip if you received special attention or services from the Matre
d'.
Additional thoughts on tipping onboard the Carnival
Liberty:
If you
are putting your kids in the program and they have a great time,
you should consider tipping the Youth Director. The youth staff put
in 110 per cent to make certain your kids have a great time, and it
is appropriate for you to tip the staff a bit extra. As Carnival
doesn't have a formal system or guidance for tipping the Youth
Staff, you will need to bring cash for this tip. Our tip guidance
is $5 per day, per child. Make certain the Youth Director
understands the tip should be shared amongst the staff. For some
reason, this hard working group tends to get overlooked. You will
be one of the few who tip the youth staff on the Carnival Liberty
and they will be sincerely appreciative.
STAYING INFORMED
The Carnival
Liberty's newsletter, "Carnival Capers" or "Fun Times," is placed
in your room along with the towel animal of the day every evening.
The newsletter lets you plan your next day's activities. The
Liberty "Fun Times" has an easy tear- out portion called "Today at
a Glance" which is a quick reference guide to the times and places
of the various activities. Put it in your pocket for quick access -
the "Fun Times" even lets you know what items are on sale in the
gift shops. On your TV in your stateroom, there is a "Cruise
Channel" that gives the highlights of the ship and replays certain
activities that you may have missed.
The Cruise Director
is the Carnival Liberty's public presence for entertainment and all
things Carnival throughout the cruise. The daily announcements are
usually broadcast by the Cruise Director in the morning. These
announcements are broadcast in the public areas of the ship and on
a video channel in your room. Check to make sure you are tuned to
the appropriate channel.
The home base for
kids' activities is Camp Carnival. They have their own "Camp
Capers" detailing specific times and places of the kids' events.
It's available just outside the pick-up/drop-off areas for the
kids. A copy of "Camp Capers" is also given out at
orientation.
IN-STATEROOM TV AND
MOVIES
The
Carnival Liberty features an advanced interactive TV system in
cabins that allows for guests to order shore tours, Pay-Per-View
movies (for a fee) and free room service from the comfort of their
stateroom. Passengers can check on the status of their Sail &
Sign account (onboard credit card system) through the system as
well.
Finally, if you are missing the comforts of home,
ABC, CBS, Fox & NBC channels are usually available as well
using a satellite feed from a major US city (Denver, New York, Los
Angeles, etc.). A limited selection of basic cable channels are
usually available (ESPN, CNN) as well.
QUIET PLACES ON THE SHIP
It's
hard to believe but you can find peace and quiet on a Carnival
Cruise! Places to enjoy for some quiet time on the the Carnival
Liberty: The Antiquarian Library is the ship's library and tends to
be very quiet. The Carnival Liberty pretty much empties-out when it
is in port. So, if you are looking for quiet, port days are a great
time to be onboard the Carnival Liberty. Usually before 9:00 AM,
most areas are not crowded. And on most days, you can find a quiet
corner inside without much effort, even on a full ship.
SHOPPING
The
onboard shopping area on the Carnival Liberty is aptly named "The
Fun Shops" and is located on Deck 5, the Promenade Deck past the
"World's Way Promenade". Various sundry items are available for
purchase (suntan lotion, toiletries, candy, postcards, etc.), along
with Carnival logo-ware, resort wear (casual clothing), jewelry,
watches, liquor and cigarettes. The prices run the gamut - great on
liquor and cigarettes, generally good on watches and expensive on
sundry items. And, as the ship is at sea, you will not have to pay
a sales tax - purchases are "duty free".
If you
want to surprise someone and plan something special in your cabin,
check out the "Formalities" store where you can order up something
special - like decorating your cabin for and Anniversary or
Birthday, roses, food baskets and other items to make your cruise
that much more memorable.
Carnival Liberty Shopping Tips
The
liquor deals are excellent. However, keep in mind limits on what
you can bring back into the country per US Customs regulations.
Also, liquor bought at the onboard store cannot be consumed during
your cruise - you will be given the liquor you purchased during
disembarkation. While not a guarantee, many items go "on sale" on
the last day of the cruise.
Read
the "Fun Times" for daily "special" sale items (watches, gold by
the inch, etc.) featured in the stores.
Art Auction at Sea
At the
popular "Art Auction At Sea" where you can purchase collectible art
while onboard your cruise. Reportedly, several companies that run
art auctions onboard cruise ships will provide an appraisal with
their art that will lead you to believe that you are getting very
good value. There are those with opinions that the appraisal
methods are questionable. So, if you are inclined to buy something
at one of these auctions, a common sense approach to avoid feeling
like you got ripped off is to never buy thinking you will make a
profit, buy the art because it suits your tastes and
budget.
Legendary Joe Farcus is Carnival's designer, and Liberty continues his pattern of creating distinctive individual themes for each ship. In Liberty's case, the theme is "Artisans," covering all variations of the artistic designs and handcrafted workmanship of times gone by. Though no one would call Liberty's decor reserved, it's a more muted version of previous Farcus designs.
Beginning in the Grand Villa Garden at the bottom of the Atrium, ornate artisan ironwork is used throughout the ship's passageways, decorating walls, railings, pillars and wall frames. This gives these areas a clearly European flare, and does a nice job of tying varying design elements together.
On Carnival Liberty, every room has not only a theme that's tied in with the artisan scheme, but also a story -- which gives bars and other spots a nice added element of interest.
There's a noticeable "wow factor" for persons
boarding the ship on the lowest level of the atrium; their first
view is of the Grand Villa Garden, which feels very much like a
European courtyard. The center of the activity is the ship's
nine-deck-high atrium. Here, the Grand Villa Garden features
ironwork over lovely, lighthearted flowers in pastels. The hardwood
laminate flooring gives the area an unexpected richness for a
Carnival ship. The glass elevators running up and down on one side
of the atrium add a modern touch, and a ride in them at some time
during your cruise is a must for the views.

Garden
Atrium / Flowers Lobby

The
Venetian Palace Main Show Lounge
The
three-deck-high Venetian Palace is such a spectacular theater --
with its Murano glass, funky jester-like patterns on the chairs and
wild Venetian masks on the ceiling -- that just walking in gives
you a buzz. On Carnival Liberty, three mainstay shows are
presented, all in the Vegas mindset. These include "Rock Down
Broadway," "Wonderful World" and "Singin' with the Big
Band."
The
Venetian Palace is the ship's main theater, using as its major
design element Murano glass made in Venice. There are also colorful
tiles and chandeliers ... and check out the ceiling, which is
dotted with the famous Venetian Carnival masks.
The Victoria Lounge, the secondary theater, is genuinely elegant with its theme being English-style majolica glassware. Meet, greet, chill and chat at the Carnival Liberty's Victoria Lounge. It's a cool place to have a drink, take in live music‚¬¦ or get up and try your hand at
it with Superstar Live Karaoke. And at night, the lounge transforms
into the Punchliner Comedy Club.
The
Tapestry Room is a multi-purpose conference room. It is capable of
seating 100 in a theater-style configuration.

Satin Art Gallery Room

Antiquarian Library
The Antiquarian Library has a collection of books and board games for quiet amusement.

Silver Olympian and Gold Olympian Dining Rooms
The Golden Olympian Dining Room is mid-ship on Decks 3 and 4, in a central location, with entries from two doorways on each of the two levels, one forward and one aft. This dining room serves the 6:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. dining times. The Golden is the smaller of the two dining rooms. Seating areas are cramped and passageways between tables narrow. Even bussing stations for the service staff seem far apart and cramped, which make their jobs more difficult.
The Silver Olympian Dining Room, at the stern on Decks 3 and 4, serves the 5:45 p.m. and 8 p.m. dining times, and is also used for open-seating breakfast and lunch. This room is larger and much airier. The dining room is surrounded by windows on three sides, which enhances its design, and contributes to making it preferable to the Golden Dining Room. The Silver Olympian Restaurant is the nicer dining room, in that it's located aft and so is framed by three walls of windows.
Early, late, or "Your Choice" (5:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.) dining is offered in both the Golden Olympian and Silver Olympian main dining rooms. Both dining rooms offer the same menus, and you can feast on culinary pleasures to your heart's delight. At dinner, low-carb and vegetarian fare is offered as well as Spa Carnival choices. Traditional set-tablemates, set-time dinner scenario (open-seating at breakfast and lunch) or flex-dining with first come, first serve seating is available. Wait time is usually 20 minutes, and parties of ten plus may be accommodated at different tables (though these times may vary slightly depending on ship and sailing date). Dining assignments -- which you select before the cruise -- are made on a first come, first serve basis, so if you have your heart set on one or the other, consider booking earlier rather than later.
Chef's Table
For an even more exclusive dining event for just 12 guests, book the Chef's Table through the ship's information desk. For $75, diners can attend a multicourse dinner, hosted by one of Carnival's master chefs. The evening begins with a private cocktail reception and a tour of the galley, led by the chef, and concludes with a sumptuous dinner in a nontraditional dining venue, such as the galley or the library.
Midnight Buffet
Carnival is one of the few lines that still offer the occasional and splendiferous midnight buffet -- the Chocolate Extravaganza is worth missing a few hours sleep.
Tips for the Carnival Liberty's Main Dining Rooms
-Breakfast is served from 7:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Lunch is from noon to 1:30 p.m.
-Early dinner starts from 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., and late dinner starts from 8:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
-Both restaurants require reservations for dinner.
-For breakfast and lunch, casual clothing is OK but no swim wear or shorts are permitted.
-Appropriate attire is a must for dinner.
-Meals are no cost, but special beverages, wines, beer, and soft drinks may be purchased via bar menu.
-When ordering steaks, make sure you state your preferences as the kitchen tends to over-cook meat. Staff service is generally considered to be excellent.
-Seating in the balcony areas is preferable for most because it is more quiet than the main floor.
-The main dining rooms are less crowded than Emile's buffet for breakfast and lunch.
-Typically, only one main dining room is open for breakfast.
Room Service
Liberty's 24-hour room service is exceptional. Items are fairly limited to salads and sandwiches (and continental breakfast, unless residing in a suite), but they are fresh and well-made.
-Room service is available 24 hours a day,
-There is no cost for the food,
-There is a charge for beverages.

Emile's
Lido Buffet
For
casual indoor and outdoor dining, the two-level Emile's Restaurant
onboard Carnival Liberty is a popular option. Located mid ship on
Lido Deck, this restaurant has a grand buffet with carving
stations, and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Emile's is
typically busy during breakfast and lunch, and offers quick meal
alternatives to include salads, burgers, and Asian wok selections.
While Emile's is open from 7:00 am to midnight, it does offer a 24
hour pizzeria and deli sandwich board. Breakfast and lunch are self
service, but from 6:00 p.ml to 9:00 p.m., casual dinner table
service is available. The dinner menu includes salads, pasta,
chicken, shrimp, and steaks. There's no cost for food, but soft
drinks, specialty drinks, wine, and beer are available for purchase
from the current bar menu.
Emile's buffet includes four main cafeteria-style
lines. Two lines of hot and cold buffet fare, and two buffet lines
serving stir-fry dishes. Passengers choose raw ingredients --
meats, fish, seafood, vegetables etc. -- as they proceed through
the line until they reach the cooking station, where the chefs cook
the chosen ingredients. For breakfasts, there are a number of
made-to-order egg and omelette stations.
The
very long buffet area includes six more substations. These are
scattered along the sides: On the starboard side is Asian cuisine
-- a combination of Chinese food and Asian fair. Opposite, the port
side offers deli sandwiches, both cold and hot, served on a choice
of breads. A "Taste of the Nations" station with varying
international cuisines -- each day is a different taste. Fish &
Chips, located on the Panorama Deck, upstairs from Emile's, you'll
find fish and chips, oysters, and calamari salad among other
favorites -- delightful and prepared upon request. There's no cost
for food, but soft drinks, specialty drinks, wine, and beer are
available for purchase from the bar menu. This room has a nautical
flavor (with ropes and brass details) and the color scheme is
mainly blue (tapestry and tables) and green tones (marble, tile of
the walls) Adjacent to the Lido, in the aft pool area, on the port
side, is the much-praised Emile's Pizzeria Station, with fresh, hot pizza and
Caesar salad 24 hours a day -- a great alternative for after hours
appetites and following those long shore excursion days.
Emile's does not require reservations and is a
casual dining alternative to the main dining rooms. Finding a table is usually
not a concern, but lines for cook-to-order can be long during
breakfast and lunch.
While
the buffet does include Georges Blanc signature entrees, buffet
reviews suggest not everyone is thrilled with the temperature of
the food. If you want to get away from the crowds, The Silver is a
better choice.

Harry's
Steakhouse Supper Club
Harry's Steakhouse features an atmosphere of
urban-chic decor, and a menu of both gourmet delicacies and
mouth-watering favorites that everyone will love. Named after famed
jeweler Harry Winston, Harry's offers a musical duo and a dance
floor to entertain diners. The decor and furnishings in Harry's are
of higher quality than the other dining areas. And the Versace
plates and fine silver flatware contribute to a more upscale
tone.
A
reservations-only gourmet experience, Harry's specializes in
quality cuts of filet mignon (and a 24-ounce porterhouse), lobster,
veal chops, lamb chops and Chilean sea bass, and its wine list is
definitely one of the industry's most intriguing. A combo performs
during dinner and, whether dining at Harry's or not, the venue has
a lovely bar.
Prepare yourself for one of the most memorable
dining experiences you've ever had. You're in for a night of fun
and delicious food. Here are a few things you'll want to know
first:
-
There is a charge of $30 per person for dinner.
- The $30 fee includes an appetizer, entree, desert and the wait
staffs' gratuity.
- Optional additional gratuities may be extended in cash or to
your Sail & Sign Account.
- Reservation fee does not include bar service such as wine,
liquor, soda and bottled water.
- You can request a table anytime between 6 PM and 9:30 PM.
- Requesting your table at least two weeks prior to your sail date
is recommended.
- Requested dates and times will be honored on a first-come,
first-served basis.
- If requested time is full, the next available time slot will be
assigned.
- Please allow 2 hours for your dining experience.
- Dress code requires that men wear jackets on the 'Cruise
Elegant' nights of the cruise.
- All dining rooms are smoke-free.

On the
Promenade, the gustatory highlights include the Jardin Cafe. The
coffee is great and the pastries and desserts ... well, let's just
say they are irresistible.
Origami
Sushi Bar
The
Origami Sushi Bar, adjacent to the Jardin, is open evenings
only.

Guy's
Burger Joint
The
talents of Food Network personality Guy Fieri are helping bring
fresh-off-the-grill burgers and hand-cut fries to Carnival Liberty.
Try one Guy's way, or make your burger your own at our topping
bar.
On the
opposite side of the pool, you'll find Guy's Burger Joint, a Fun
Ship 2.0 enhancement backed by Food Network personality Guy Fieri.
Choose from one of five burgers on the menu, or simply build your
own with the help of a nearby toppings bar. There's no charge to
scarf down as many burgers and fries as you'd like, and you can do
so from noon to 6 p.m. daily.
Guy
Fieri, renowned Food Network chef, has his own Guy's Burger Joint
located on Lido Deck of the Carnival Liberty! This is where you'll
find a fine selection of savory burgers, hand-cut fries, and an
array of condiments to suit your tastebuds! Food is complimentary,
but soft drinks, wine, beer, and specialty drinks are at current
menu prices. Guy's is open for lunch, snacks, and evening meals,
and we suggest you check onboard for hours open.

To one
side of the main pool on Lido Deck, you'll find the BlueIguana
Cantina, open 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on port days, 7:30 a.m. to 10:30
a.m. on sea days and noon to 2:30 p.m. every day. This is a new
fee-free venue that was added, along with the BlueIguana Tequila
Bar, as part of the line's $500 million Fun Ship 2.0 initiative.
Choose between chicken, fish or pork tacos and beef, chicken or
shrimp burritos. Toppings run the gamut from lime-infused rice and
pico de gallo to beans and corn. The soft taco shells are made
fresh on-site by a machine that can crank out up to 700 shells per
hour. There are also separate stations for toppings and hot
sauces.
Burritos and tacos are house specialties, and you'll
see the Blue Iguana Cantina tortilla machine at work as you order
your choice of ingredients with a nice selection of trimmings. The
Cantina is open for snacks, lunch, and supper on Lido Deck. Food is
complimentary, but specialty drinks, soft drinks, wine, and beer
are at menu prices.

BARS AND
LOUNGES
With
22 bars and lounges onboard the Liberty, there's no difficulty
getting your favorite beverages, but you won't find the bar service
overbearing or overly aggressive. Soda cards (for unlimited soft
drinks) are available for children and adults.
BlueIguana Tequila Bar is the onboard chill spot
featuring frozen tequila drinks, cold Mexican beer and that breezy
Western Caribbean vacation vibe. Where can you find it? Next to the
cool pool, of course.
The
Lido Deck is flanked by two bars: the BlueIguana Tequila Bar and
the RedFrog Rum Bar. The tequila bar shares its mascot with the
adjacent BlueIguana Cantina, and the RedFrog Rum Bar is a variation
of the wildly popular Red Frog Pub, which made its debut on
Carnival Magic. Each bar's menu includes as host of tasty for-fee
alcoholic beverages, including Iguana's Iced Tea ($8.91, including
tip), Red's Rum Treasure ($12.59, including tip) and other
interesting concoctions.
Introducing RedFrog Rum Bar, a full poolside bar
featuring not only a great selection of Caribbean rum-based
concoctions, but plenty of Carnival's signature private-label
draught beer, ThirstyFrog Red.
Empress
Bar
The
Empress Room is a tiny gem of a room with a fake fireplace whose
design revolves around Chinese Cloisonne.
The
Promenade
The
center of the ship's life is Deck 4, surrounding the Atrium; and
Deck 5, the Promenade Deck. Promenade Deck is the only deck that
runs from bow to stern inside the ship, other than the passenger
cabin decks 2,3, 6, 7 and 8.
Deck
5/Promenade Deck is the entertainment center of the ship. From the
Sports Bar, just off of the atrium, traveling aft through the
Promenade deck brings you to the enormous Casino, the Casino Bar,
Club 02 (the teens-only disco), Without Batteries (the ship's video
arcade), Hot & Cool, the disco whose decor celebrates the art
of tattoos, the Jardin Cafe (for purchasing specialty coffees and
incredible desserts), Origami Sushi Bar (where sushi is available
free in the evenings), the Alchemy Bar (a bar that sits in a crook
in the hallway and is a great people-watching spot), the Piano Man
Bar (where sing-alongs create a packed house most nights and gets
quite raucous as people sing along to the best of 60's, 70's, and
80's pop music), the Stage Lounge, which offers live music and
karaoke, the Empress Bar in the Club Lounge, and the ship's large
alternate showroom, the traditionally decorated Victoria
Lounge. The
ship's shops, selling logo wear, jewelry and sundries, are on
Promenade Deck as well, around the Atrium.
Cabinet
Jazz and Cigar Bar
The
Cabinet Lounge is on Deck 4, just forward of the aft Golden Olympic
Dining Room. Cabinet Lounge is the ship's cigar bar, which features
live jazz in the evenings.
Alchemy
Bar
Try
tasty, all-new drinks at this unique vintage-themed cocktail
"pharmacy," or take matters of taste into your own hands and create
a custom concoction from unique ingredients.
Aft on
Promenade Deck is Alchemy, a swanky-but-simple dark wood bar that
serves alcoholic beverages by "prescription." Choose a drink from
one of the light-up menus, or create your own by writing down what
you'd like on one of the bar's prescription pads. Prepare to be
surrounded by apothecary jars and bartenders in white lab coats.
This venue is open late.
EA Sports
Bar
A fun
hangout spot is the EA Sports Bar, also on Promenade Deck. A
man-cave to end all man-caves, it features 16 46-inch TV screens
that can each be tuned to individual games or combined to show just
one or two games that span across several screens. The bar also
offers video games and an LED ticker that posts current game
scores. The relaxed atmosphere is accented with black and red
tones, and you can enjoy the game with your favorite beer until the
wee hours of the morning.
EA
SPORTS Bar is the perfect place to grab a drink and catch a game,
featuring both live sports and lively, hands-on competition with
the latest video game titles from EA SPORTS.
Piano Man
Bar
Comments about Ron Pass, the Piano Man:
"On
Carnival Liberty, the piano man goes by the name of Ron Pass, boy,
is he impressive.... He plays all the old favorites from Neil
Diamond to Elvis to the Beatles. Everyone stamps their feet and
sings along."
"After
dinner...it is action of the vocal kind that seems to excite the
crowds. Ron, the smiling piano man and host of the Liberty piano
bar, has become the favorite of the night-time fun-seekers who
fight for prime position for a pew at Ron's oversized piano, night
after night."
"Ron
Pass in the piano bar is the best and most talented entertainer on
any cruise ship in my travel experience. His talents at the
keyboard and his singing are equaled by his charm, charisma, and
desire to make a guest feel truly special and very well
entertained. Having been in the hospitality industry for over 20
years, I know talent. Carnival is very fortunate to have him on
your ships. He is a true superstar in the making. My thanks for
making the past 7 days the best ever!!"
The
Stage Jazz Bar has photos and reliefs of jazz musicians on the
walls. While the room was conceived of as a jazz venue, a variety
of music is performed there.
Cabinet
Jazz and Cigar Bar
The
Cabinet on Deck 4 is a large room located between the two main
dining rooms. It was created as a cigar bar and features live
music.
DJ
Irie
Official DJ of Carnival Cruise Lines
Nobody
raises the roof like a great DJ, and DJ IRIE, the Miami Heat's
official DJ, is training Carnival DJs to help keep their spinning
skills sharp and their personalities party-ready. Dance. Dance. Dance. The
party is in full swing at the Carnival Liberty Hollywood Dance
Club. Show 'em your moves and make new friends in the
process.
A disco dance club,
with decor celebrating the art of tatoo.
The Fun Shops
surround the Garden Atrium on Deck 5, the Promenade Deck. They
offer jewelry, perfumes and cosmetics, souvenirs and logo items, s
well as duty-free liquor and tobacco. Included amongst the shops is
Carnival's Formalities, where guests can obtain items for special
occasions (e.g. candy, wine, decorations).
Cherry on
Top Candy Shop
Cherry
on Top is a cute corner store on the Promenade Deck (Deck 5) that's
done up in shades of pink offers loose candy, for which you'll pay
$8.80 a pound. Also available are prepackaged sweets, including

Internet
Cafe
Internet Access
WiFi:
You can access the internet on the Carnival Liberty -- there is WiFi on the entire ship. The ship has WiFi service available from bow to stern, including individual passenger cabins.
The Liberty provides PC's in an internet cafe 24 hours a day adjacent to the Cigar Cabinet Bar, Deck 4 Aft. However, if you want to bring your WiFi-enabled laptop, iPhone, PDA, etc., the Carnival Liberty is WiFi enabled. You can log in using your own laptops, or rent from the ship for $20 per day, plus the cost of the time you spend online.
Internet Cafe:
The Internet Cafe is open 24-hours and features individual terminals where you can surf the Web, chat online, and access your private e-mail account (Gmail, AOL, Hotmail, Juno, Yahoo, etc.) Alternatively, personalized CruisE-mail™ is available on most vessels. Please see additional information below.
For your convenience, the Internet Cafe Manager is available for assistance during posted hours.
Internet Cafe terminals run on Windows XP and are limited to Internet communication. Terminals are equipped with Microsoft Office readers only, not full versions of these programs (WORD, EXCEL, etc); most files can be accessed as “read only” for viewing purposes but cannot be edited or saved. Please note, on your personal laptop you can read, edit and save files without restrictions according to the programs installed.
Wireless Users:
The Wireless Internet Service is compatible with a Wireless 802.11b card, which is the industry standard. You may use your personal laptop while onboard, your iPhone and all other WiFi equipped devices and most software installed on them without restrictions. VPN access on the other hand is restricted to connections of the type, which are not IPSec or PPTP connections. Kindly discuss your VPN limitations with your company’s IT department if you are planning to work while sailing. We are not able to change your settings onboard.
Pricing:
Instructions on how to create an account and pricing details are present on-screen in the Internet Cafe or on your laptop once you connect to Carnival WiFi. Internet pricing is identical, whether you are using the Internet Cafe terminals, your own laptop or other wireless devices. All Internet charges will be billed directly to your onboard “Sail & Sign” account.
Time Plans offer guests the opportunity to enjoy a lower per-minute rate. These Time Plans are transferable between Internet Cafe terminals and personal laptops/wireless devices, can be used anytime throughout the cruise until disembarkation and don’t have to be used in a single session. No refund will be provided for unused minutes. Upgrading a pre-selected pricing option is not available and plans are subject to change.

Before You Go
Get the most from your cruise Internet time and your trip — make sure you're powered up and prepared before you board the ship with this handy pre-cruise checklist. Here are a few things you want to remember to pack for your cruise:
• WiFi enabled laptop and mobile devices
• Power supply for each of the devices you are bringing with you
• A charged battery for your trip to the ship
• Data cables to transfer pictures
• Headphones
• Laptop privacy screens
Best Practices
• Email – Convert your email settings to basic; you will have a better experience with less graphic intense content. Most email providers have a lite version of their service optimized for low-bandwidth users.
• Mobile websites – most websites nowadays offer a mobile interface; they are leaner, less graphic intense alternatives to their main page. Mobile pages load quicker via the leaner bandwidth available onboard and can be accessed regardless of your device: laptop, smart phone, tablet etc. A few examples:
• Apps – consider using apps; they are tailored for your device and will improve your online experience
• Browsers – Experiment with alternate browsers for a faster experience: Chrome, Opera, Safari, Mozilla, Firefox
• Remember to log out
• Disconnect from WiFi - develop the habit of disconnecting from WiFi when ending your Internet session; leaving your device connected may slow other users’ Internet speed
• Words associated with leaner content = faster loading time: mobile, text only, lite, no media, low resolution
• Discuss VPN limitations with your company’s IT department prior to cruising; onboard personnel are not able to change your settings onboard.
NOTE:
Internet access via satellite is a significantly different experience than high-speed connections on shore. Onboard Internet access is not guaranteed at all times due to the nature of satellite communications, which are subject to occasional disruptions due to weather patterns and location.
Accessing E-mail and the Internet in the middle of the world's oceans is a Liberty of cutting edge satellite technology. Our investment into this technology matches some of the most prestigious companies in the world, but even so it cannot be as fast as your home broadband. This is because the data must be transmitted over a slower wireless signal to satellites 22,000 miles above the Earth, which then bounce the data back down to the exchange. At home the data is sent down your fast cable connection to your local exchange, just around the corner from your house. We are continually reviewing our investment to secure you as fast a connection as possible and challenge fjords, glaciers and other grand geographical locations, to provide you with as seamless and consistent a service as possible.
Cellular-at-Sea
Cell phone service is available on all ships in the Carnival fleet. While your ship is at sea, the cellular system is activated and you can make and receive calls, send and receive text messages, as well as view emails and browse the Internet with over 300 carriers worldwide. International roaming rates apply and are set and billed by your home carrier. Charges will appear on your regular cell phone bill. Please contact your carrier before your cruise to check rates for each service and ensure your plan allows you to roam. For more information, visit www.cellularatsea.com.
Cell phone roaming is enabled on the Carnival Liberty, however, the system can be pricey as the price plans feature international roaming rates and data charges (this can be very expensive). Contact your mobile phone operator to ensure that your account is activated for international roaming and inquiry as to per minute rates and data charges.
All major US mobile operators as well as Rogers Wireless in Canada are available on the Carnival Liberty. There are also several mobile operators whom are available on the Carnival Liberty.
Ship-to-Shore Phone Calls
For our guest's convenience, the ship's telecommunications network offers direct dialing via satellite from the stateroom's telephone. This is available 24 hours a day regardless of the ship's location. This service is closed on the final day of the cruise at 4:00 AM. The rate is $1.99 per minute, and charges are billed to the guest's on board Sail & Sign Card. Since all communication is via satellite, the charges apply to all calls including calling cards, credit cards, 800 toll-free numbers and collect calls.
Shore-to-Ship Communication
Friends and family may call guests on board via Sea Mobile Shore-to-Ship telephone service. The rate is $9.50 per minute from the United States; additional long distance charges may apply from outside the United States.

Seaside
Outdoor Theater
Watch
movies, concerts, news, sporting events, and even watch others
shake their "groove thing" on our Carnival Liberty Seaside Theatre.
A 12'x22', jumbo-sized LED screen with a crystal-clear picture and
a 70,000-watt, easy-to-hear sound system.
Carnival Cruise Lines' first-ever outdoor movie
screen towers over the main pool deck as a 270-square-foot screen
that thrums with programming day and night. During the day, the
screen plays music videos and basically takes over the role of a
band, while at night a variety of films are played, both
family-oriented such as "Shrek" and retro-hits such as "Titanic."
Late in the evenings, concerts featuring performers such as Tom
Jones are shown.

The
Carnival Liberty offers 5 swimming pools and 7 whirlpools.
When arriving in the
pool area, you will need to sign-out a towel for use around the
pool area. There will be a $22 charge per towel to your onboard
account for each towel you fail to return.
Babies
& Infants in Pools: Carnival's official policy is "no swim
diapers, children must be potty trained". We have not heard reports
on whether the policy is strictly enforced.
While
Carnival does its best to discourage this, sunbathers do show-up at
8 AM and try to stake their lounge chair territory for the
day.
Everyone enjoys the self-serve soft ice cream and
frozen yogurt available near the two main pool areas.

The
central pool area is the Tivoli Pool area, which has a pool two
whirlpools, a bandstand, a large dance floor, and the Seaside
Theater's giant screen overlooking it all. The pool itself is 30
feet by 16 feet and is four and a half feet deep.
The
area has its own bar and is just forward of the buffet restaurant.
There also is a gaming table. During the morning, one of the grill
areas near the central pool offers breakfast items and
made-to-order eggs and omelettes. Breakfast at this station is
available quite a bit later than at Emile's, after the other buffet
lines were closed.
The
most appealing swimming area is the Versailes pool aft, with two
big whirlpools off to the side. The pool has a teak deck, with a brick-like floor around the pool. The pillars have newly forged iron ornaments as find on the atrium, also found in all doors.
The
Versailles Pool is at the aft end of the ship and has a retractable
glass roof. The pool is 21 feet by 16 feet and is four and a half
feet deep. Its area includes two whirlpools and a bar. The pizzeria
and a light meals grille are also part of the area. The starboard
side grille serves up hamburgers, hot dogs, and (though not
advertised) steak sandwiches. There are also heated chaffing dishes
for hot condiments -- fried onions, sauteed mushrooms, even
chili.
Twister
Waterslide on the Pool Deck
Slide
and glide on the Carnival Liberty fun-ified Twister Waterslide.
It's three decks high of twisting and turning water mania - Perfect
for splishin', splashin' and playin' at any age.
The
forward pool area is dominated by a 214 foot long waterslide.
However, the slide does not deliver passengers into the Coney
Island Pool but rather next to the pool. The pool is 18 feet by 18
feet and 4 feet deep. Next to the pool is a salt water hot
tub.

Serenity:
Adults Only Area
On Sun
Deck (Deck 12), forward, just above the spa, gym and salon, is
Serenity, an adults-only sun deck that offers loungers, hammocks
and couches for relaxation away from the masses. In addition to
great views, you'll also have access to additional hot tubs, and
waiters will come around to take your drink orders.
We
call our adult-only area 'Serenity' for a reason, and we mean it.
So whether you're one spirited relaxation enthusiast, or just a
lover of hammocks and umbrella drinks, this is the place you'll
want to be.
Carnival
Outdoor Promenade
Carnival
Liberty Spa and Fitness Center
The
Spa Carnival is a large complex that occupies portions of two
decks. The spa facilities includes ten treatment rooms including
facilities for couples and steam rooms and saunas located in the
men's and women's locker rooms.
The
Spa Carnival health and fitness center features an expansive
fitness center with a separate workout area, and a funky waterfall
with a Jacuzzi.
The
Carnival Liberty's jogging track and gymnasium are both located on
Deck 11 - the Spa Deck. Access to the jogging track is via a
stairway from Deck 10 and the gymnasium is accessed via the Spa
Carnival front desk. There is a hallway on the left and right side
of the Spa Carnival check-in that leads to the Men's and Women's
locker and shower area before entering the gym area itself. Access
to both Carnival Liberty workout facilities is included with the
cost of the cruise. There are men's and women's locker rooms and
showers you may use in the Spa Carnival facility.
The
gym, at 15,000 sq. ft., is full of treadmills, stationary bikes,
Stairmasters, rowing and hydraulic weight machines, and of course
free weights. The strategically placed equipment allows you to
enjoy the panoramic views offered by the floor-to-ceiling windows.
For runners, a lap on the jogging deck, which surrounds the
smokestack, is equivalent to 1/11 of a mile.
The
gym is really quite outstanding - there are at least a dozen
treadmills and enough other cardio machines and weights to rival
any hometown gym. One thing your local gym probably doesn't have is
the floor to ceiling windows so you can look at the beautiful ocean
while you work off your buffet. There is also a selection of
classes offered. The trendiest and most popular (Pilates, yoga and
spinning) are $10 per person. In addition to the gym, there is a
jogging track on Deck 12 if you prefer your workouts in the fresh
air.
Aerobics and yoga classes are available for a modest
fee - check the "Fun Times" newsletter or with the Spa Carnival
front desk for scheduling information.
The
Beauty Salon has one wall lined by windows -- a perfect scenic
place for getting pedicures and manicures. The ginger/lime salt
scrub and massage is exceptional. You can buy all the products you
desire in the spa's stand-alone boutique.
The
Salon onboard the Carnival Liberty offers hairstyling, cutting,
coloring, eye brow shaping, waxing, manicures, pedicures &
facial treatments. Make sure to book any Spa Carnival or Salon
treatments you want early - they tend to fill up quickly. Also, be
on the lookout for discounts offered for making appointments on the
first or second day of the cruise. Try the Ionithermie Super Detox
Treatment to lose inches and cellulite.
City Sports
Park
It's
all in fun on the Carnival Liberty Sun deck. Have a swinging good
time at the 9-hole mini-golf course, take a quick jog around our
padded jogging track, play Ping Pong, volleyball, Shuffle Board or
shoot some hoops. On Spa Deck (Deck 11), aft, you'll find nine holes of
miniature golf. You can snag putters and brightly colored golfballs
on Lido Deck (Deck 9) before making your way to the top of the
ship, near the funnel.
The
City Sports Park covers a number of sports facilities including
Mini-Golf Course, a golf practice net, a basketball court and
volleyball court, shuffleboard, and a padded jogging
track.
Camp
Carnival
Camp
Carnival's facility on Carnival Liberty encompasses 4,200 square
ft. First up is an enclosed play area with an arts-and-crafts
center, a video wall, a soft play area, a computer lab, PlayStation
2 consoles, and a library. There's also a wading pool just
outside.
Carnival divides kids into four age groups, and has
introduced more edu-tainment offerings into its programs. Among
them are Sea Notes, a musical program; H2Ocean, which focuses on
hands-on science projects; EduCruise, which features interactive
projects on ports of call; and ExerSeas, a series of recreational
and fitness activities. Camp Carnival also offers activities that
involve family members.
Group
babysitting is available; cost is $6 per hour for the first child,
$4 per hour for each additional kid in the same family.
Your
little ones will love it. It's designed and fun-ified with Carnival
Liberty cruisers ages 2-11 years old in mind. They're supervised by
an experienced team and having just as much fun as you are...maybe
even more.
Circle
C
Circle C is for passengers ages 12 to 14. It is
located on Deck 4 just outside of the Golden Restaurant. The Circle
C has a multi-use area and computer/Internet
workstations.
We
know just what teenagers 15-17 like -- Music, video games, food,
new friends and BIG fun. Carnival Liberty Club O2's got it -- the
perfect 'round-the-clock hangout full of the funnest things to
do.
Most
impressive is the ship's teen disco. Rather than lump the teens
with the rest of the kids, its high-energy Without Batteries disco
is in a central location right on the promenade -- a few doors down
from the adult disco. The club itself looks quite cool -- themed
around antique toymaking before batteries were necessary -- but
high-tech toys aren't lacking. The dance floor is outfitted with
special sensitive light panels that recreate your footprints as you
walk across. Other features include a big juice bar in the center,
multiple video screens, flashing lights, and arcade games. Next
door is another area of arcade games, this one open to kids (and
adults) of all ages. Another cool feature: Teen-targeted shore
experiences are offered.
